Page 1/3. This’ll be a 3 pager which I’ll be finishing and posting on Tuesdays for y’all until the end of the month! I hope you enjoy some headcanons.

Also testing out TrueGrit’s halftone machine on this comic and… I gotta say y’all, I kinda love it! I’ve been wanting to do more halftone work but haven’t been able to find a look I like or a method that fits well with my workflow.

Comic page, 3 panels. Panel 1 shows a young Jigen looking surprised to the right with a black eye, a speech bubble overlaid on the corner of the panel reading "Fuck your dad." Panel 2 shows a young Lupin angry and looking down to the right while gritting his teeth, a speechbubble reads "What if--" Panel 3 is an open panel with the two boys sitting together on a wall, Lupin is leaning his head down on Jigen's shoulder. Jigen is blushing and his fists are tight on his knees. Lupin is sad and his arms lay limp between his knees. Speechbubble reads "What if I was your family instead?"

Family

Family published on No Comments on Family

Had this idea back in December and it’s been pushed back and back until NOW! It was originally about Lupin with a black eye, but then then the finale of Zero came out and I liked Lupin’s dad way more than I ever expected! So Jigen’s dad is the jerk instead. My intention for “family” here is “we’re married” instead of “we’re brothers”.

Expect some more Zero comics this month, I’ve already posted it for $1+ patrons early but there’s a 3 page Lupin Zero comic coming up for y’all.

Up on a lake I'm sitting on a paddle board with my six year old nephew. As he's staring off into the distance, thinking deeply about something he asks me "Jey, you're not a girl like mommy are you?" I'm clearly excited to be having this conversation with him and respond "No, I'm not a girl but I'm also not a boy like you or your dad." My nephew thinks about this and says "Okay! And you can still be my first-mate right?". I tell him "Of course, Captain!" where I'm beaming with excitement over his response as we paddle on wards!

When I Was Me

When I Was Me published on No Comments on When I Was Me

My one page comic for the “When I Was Me” anthology;

a collection of autobiographical comics about  the joyful and euphoric experiences of being transgender, featuring  stories from trans people with a wide range of gender identities, ages,  and backgrounds! 100% of the team working on When I Was Me fits  under the trans umbrella, from pre-press to artists. With 12 interior  illustrations and over 60 comics, this book is a wonderful reminder that  the trans experience is full of beauty and happiness.
Edited by Eve Greenwood and Alex Assan. Cover art by C. A. P. Ward. Book design by Spire Eaton.

My comic in this book, for the family section, is about a moment I had with one of my niblings at the cottage. The kids in my life are getting a good grasp on what I am and what trans people are, and I am so happy to be that gateway for them.

Comic page giving a mini tutorial on what an RSS feed is. Panel 1:If you run a site make sure your RSS button is easily accessible. The URL will usually be something like yoursite.com/feed or yoursite.com/rss. Panel 2: Be sure to follow your own RSS feeds to make sure they're updating properly. This way if it goes down for whatever reason you'll be able to catch the problem before your readers miss too many updates. Panel 3: And that's all there is to it! It's very customizable so play around with it to see what works for you! Panel 4: No fuss. No algorithms. Just the updates you choose to see! Hey! My favourite comic updated!

Comic page giving a mini tutorial on what an RSS feed is. Panel 1: You might've seen this icon before. It's the RSS icon. But what is RSS? RSS is an update feed for a website. Every time the site publishes a post, article, comic page, etc. the feed is updated. Most websites have a RSS feed. Panel 2: You'll usually find it in a site's menu. It might also be on a sidebar or the footer. Panel 3: But if I click on it it's just a bunch of code! What gives? What am I supposed to do with it?! Panel 4: This is where you'll need a feed reader like feedly!

With all the talk about Twitter and social media going on, I felt really inspired to do a comic about RSS feeds. This is a really barebones guide but I hope it helps you stay updated with your favourite webcomics, artists and websites.

Comic page giving a mini tutorial on what an RSS feed is. Panel 1: One, on Feedly click the follow button. Two, copy the URL from the site's RSS button and add it to the search box. Panel 2: Three, this will bring up the feed for the site. Four, Add it by clicking the follow button. You can also search the name of the site without the RSS link but it's more accurate if you have the link. Panel 3: Add the new feed to a folder. Panel 4: Now the feed will appear on your Feedly when it updates! Panel 5: What I did was get the Feedly add-on for my browser. So every time a site I follow updates the extension lets me know! Panel 6: Clicking the title of the update opens the site in a new tab. I personally like seeing content on it's own site. But you can set everything up so you only ever need to open Feedly.

The nice thing about RSS feeds is that almost any kind of site has one, so if you wanted you could add user feeds from tumblr, twitter, mastodon, etc. here’s some helpful guides on how to add those (1) (2)

I changed the toning just slightly on these two but I really like how they turned out. I was also a little too pressed for time to do another huge crowd shot. I did this to myself though, oops.

I tried sketching the first two pages of this comic traditionally and then inking them digitally but I think my compositions and anatomy end up cleaner if I sketch it all digitially now.

This four page short was written and drawn by me (Jey), I’m dipping my toes into writing comics a bit moreI I tried out a new way of toning a comic, unsure if I like it yet or not, but these one-shot quick comics are real nice for testing out things without committing to a whole 300 pg comic! What do y’all think?

Comic page in black and white with grey textures. Jigen is quiet as Lupin fiddles with a remote, he doesn't look at Jigen as he says "Don't ever touch him." A close-up on Jigen as he looks over to Lupin, realising that Lupin has feelings for Zenigata. We zoom out again, the two men are small against the top the roof wall. Jigen says "You got it, boss."

I’m also thinking starting January I’m going to be posting Darumaka pages once a week; I want to get into a webcomic routine again, and these one-shots might be a rarer occurrence. I’ll be posting a larger Lupin comic over on my Patreon starting this month though, so go check that out!
