Sal is thinking and ignoring Vasilios, then picks up a bag from the front of his caravan. He pulls out a black notebook stuffed with papers and bookmarks. Vasilios continues to look annoyed as Sal ignores him while checking his notes.

While Vasilios becomes more and more annoyed, while lecturing Sal and saying "Salvator, you know we have a very important job to do for the headmaster. We don't have TIME for sightseeing!" Salvator doesn't acknowledge the lecture and blankly responds "I remember." as he puts his satchel away into his caravan. He starts peddling his bike forward while saying "But we need to go here first." and Vasilios looks utterly shocked, but follows behind, sitting on his floating staff, with a frown on his face.

The grass and weeds are overgrown around it with moss growing over the cabin and parts of the wood decaying. Salvator and Vasilios make their way towards it. Salvator says "Vasilios, before we go in I need to borrow one of your hats, a pair of glasses, and the fanciest looking gloves you have." Vasilios looks annoyed by the request but starts to get his pack out and replies "Just that? Nothing else I can do for his Most Knowledgeable of the Grandest Understandings?" While Sal has now donned a hat, removed his coat, and is putting his hair up he continues "Actually can you make my cart look like it belongs to The University?" The camera pans out to show Sal in the foreground pulling a pair of fancy gloves on, he's wearing one of Vasilios' hats and mini cape while Vasilios puts a magic sheet over Salvator's caravan, we can see the magic working through the sheet as it disguises part of the caravan to look bright and fancy with fantasy text on the side.

Salvator says seriously "Okay, now play along and don't say anything." Vasilios lifts his arms up in a wild gesture and says loudly "Play along?" but Salvator knocks on the decrepit house before Vasilios keep complaining, instead Vasilios asks "What are you doing?" and the two men wait at the doorstep as they both hear noises from inside, creaking and several 'thuds' getting louder. Vasilios shakes nervously but Salvator remains steady and unmoved.

We see a ghastly cursed man, half of his body is birch tree texture with his left eye matching a birch tree eye and leaking dark sap, he's very dishevelled and angrily says in shaky text "Who are you?" Vasilios actively reacts to seeing the cursed man, looking surprised as he's never seen a curse this bad before. Salvator, however, smiles brightly at the man and replies "Greetings and salutations. I am Salvator and this is my colleague Vasilios. We represent the Magic University's Curse Breaking Department and heard you were in possession of a powerful cursed object. We've had a tremendous breakthrough in our anti-curse magical studies and were hiping to purchase your object to further our work." Salvator is clearly lying and Vasilios knows it but the cursed man believes him and brings the two inside "You may enter." he says while Vasilios looks concerned and Salvator smiles.

The cursed man reveals the cursed item causing him such strife, it's a small statue of a rodent dressed in a wizard hat with a wide brim, it's in robes and holding a book, it looks detailed and serious (this is not a joke.) Salvator looks at it while adjusting his big circular glasses, he says "Fascinating!" and walks around the statue, keeping his distance and commenting on it from different angles "The magical output here is tremendous. It may even be several hundred years old. Unique length patterns, I need to compare this to our records. Yes, this will add a whole additional dimension to our data sets." Salvator goes back to the cursed man, taking his effected hand in his own with no fear and says "I would be thrilled if you would consider the payment of two silver pieces for this incredible item." Vasilios is listening in and looks utterly shocked as the cursed man says in his rough voice "That is fine."

Salvator tugs on his fancy gloves, smacks his hands together in a clap, then holds them out in front of him and says a magic spell and the text is in an unreadable fantasy font. Salvator then grabs the rodent statue with a big smile on his face. In the foreground, Vasilios gets two silver pieces out of his purse while in the background Salvator says to the cursed man "We're also interested in curse regression and yours would be an excellent case study. We'll send you 10 coppers per letter if you would send us reports on your symptoms." To which the cursed man smiles to this and Vasilios, in the foreground looks angrily shocked by Salvator using the University's funds for this.

The Curse Eater comic page done in black and white with halftones. Salvator bids farewell to the cursed man and shakes his hand as Vasilios grumpily walks away from the cabin. The two are off and walking away from the clearing, Salvator looking very pleased with himself with the statue in hand, while Vasilios pushes Sal's caravan in the background. The two walk deeper into the woods, and deeper until they're well away from the clearing and the cursed man's home. Salvator sighs and takes the hat off. Vasilios stops pushing the bicycle caravan and looks like he's about to lecture Salvator.

The Curse Eater comic page done in black and white with halftones. Vasilios begins his angry lecture saying "So, are you finally willing to debase yourself enough to tell me what's going on?" Salvator looks down at the statue in his hands, the glasses of his disguise removed now as well and he replies "That man's partner died because of this statue." and Vasilios looks guilty for being annoyed by it all. With a gradient in the background we move to a flashback. Narration reads "It had been in his family for ages and no one knew what caused the curse to suddenly activate." we see a slightly younger Salvator with shorter hair. He looks worried as he listens to a couple he sitting with at a table. The couple, which shows the cursed man we just met but before the curse afflicted him, he looks upset and wears his dark robes with a monocle. His partner, a thin light skinned person with shoulder length curly hair and a curly little moustache with big circular glasses but is showing the same signs of the curse, with their right arm inflicted with the birch texture. Narration reads "It deformed and killed them in only a few months." and we see the man sitting next to a bed where his partner lays, completely covered by the birch texture and breathing heavily. Narration reads "He was devastated, and took the statue and move to the far woods so no one else would be affected." and we see the man, statue in his arms, with a big pack on his back walking through the woods, he looks scared, worried and nervous.

The Curse Eater comic page done in black and white with halftones. We continue the flashback from the previous page, where Salvator has found and visited the man once again. Narration reads "I visited before but he refused to give it to me. He was worried it would kill someone else." as Salvator pleads with the man. The flashback ends as the dark gradient fades out. Salvator hands Vasilios his cape that he borrowed and says "But I figured if a University scholar came and said it was safe he'd believe them." Vasilios looks annoyed as he holds the extra hat as well. Thinking about it, Vasilios snarks back at Sal saying "Fine, but what about the money?" to which, Salvator grabs hold of his bicycle cart and it transforms back to normal, he says "I doubt the University will bankrupt. I don't try and save someone from a curse just to see them starve to death." and Vasilios looks surprised by this response.
