Panel 1: Wide shot, overhead view. Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon are sitting in a rough triangle, all generally facing away from each other. Their exact positioning doesn't matter, we just need to establish that all three of them are together. Jigen is sitting on his back on a couch, spread out with his arms behind his head and his hat over his eyes. His pose is relaxed but he's tense and what we can see of his mouth shows him frowning. Goemon is sitting cross legged on the floor, meditating. However he is not at peace and he is also looking upset. Lupin has his back to the reader as he sits at his desk smoking a cigarette, but his shoulders are hunched and tense. Panel 2: Medium shot, front/overhead view. These three panels are meant to show the the gang are all upset at each other, with some variation on how the three of them show it on their face. We cut to a close up of Jigen's face, showing in more detail that he is scowling deeply. Panel 3: Medium shot, front view. Cut to Goemon, who is also frowning, with more focus on the scowl lines between his eyebrows (as a contrast to Jigen where the focus is naturally on his mouth). Panel 4: Medium shot, front view. Cut to Lupin, who is furiously smoking his cigarette. He's looking down at his desk, maybe pretending to be working on something instead of sulking, but he's clearly upset as well.

Page 1/4, of the comic Michelle and I did for “Between Heists” a Lupin Fan Works Collection (bigcartel) (itchio) The premise was the Lupin gang on their days off, so Michelle and I wanted to do a comic about them not always getting along. It was very different working in a square format! Grab an… Continue reading Between Heists – 1

Comic page done in grey textured tones and black lines. Panel 1: Wide shot, rear view. Lupin from behind, sitting at his desk. Our focus is on the SFX of his stomach gurgling. Leave enough visual room for Lupin to stand up in the next panel. SFX (Lupin): grrul gurrg Panel 2: Wide shot, rear view. The panel angle and position remains the same and Lupin pushes his chair back and stands up. There should be a lot of tension and anger in his body language. He's not happy to have his moping interrupted. Panel 3: Wide shot, front view. Cut to the hideout's messy kitchen. We can see the fridge, some counter, and the sink. The fridge has the door swung open and is almost completely empty. There might be a few bottles of random sauces, and maybe an empty take out container or bag. The counter has dirty dishes stacked into disgusting towers and the sink is completely full of unwashed pots and pans. There may be various stains on the cupboard drawers. There's a lot of room in this panel to draw whatever you're feeling, as long as it looks messy.

Comic page drawn in greyscale with very textured greys. Panel 1: Wide shot, side view. Jigen is lounging on the couch, in the same position he was in page 1 panel 1. Lupin is leaning over his head and thrusting a shopping list into his face. This angle should be a bit awkward to feel free to play that up. Both men are still scowling at each other. Lupin: "Groceries." Panel 2: Wide shot, side view. Lupin is crouched down beside Goemon, who is also in the same pose and page 1. Lupin is squatting beside where Goemon is sitting and it looks a bit goofy. Both of them are looking angry, Lupin looking at Goemon and Goemon with his eyes closed. Lupin might have one arm up a bit, perhaps pointing at Goemon or at the kitchen, or both arms are down by his knees, whatever you prefer. Lupin: "Dishes." Panel 3: Wide shot, rear view. Lupin is standing next to the stove cooking. There are pots and pans on most/all of the burners, various things cooking/boiling/frying. There are bottles and jars of spices scattered around him, bowls full of diced veggies, other veggies and pieces of meat sitting beside him waiting to be processed. He's standing in front of a mostly cut-off cutting board, furiously chopping up something. Whatever you want him to be cooking works, but the scene should be chaotic. This isn't just any meal he's making, this is something fancy and complicated. SFX (cutting board): tk tk tk tk

Comic page in greyscale. Panel 1: Wide shot, side view. Jigen, Lupin, and Goemon are all sitting around a table, still angry, silently eating dinner together. They're eating whatever food you want to draw. Jigen has a bottle of whiskey and a tumbler next to him, Lupin a bottle of wine and a glass, Goemon a sake bottle (or container like ours) and glass. Goemon is also eating his meal with chopsticks. The drinks should be centred, showing that everyone's preferences were taken into account, even when they're all angry at each other. The scene is silly but charming.

Comic page in black and white with halftones. Panel one, Goemon and Lupin are in profile looking at each other angrily. Both of them are beat up, with bruises and black eyes. Goemon says “Sex maniac.” while Lupin replies “GASP! You’re the one flirting with everyone!” Panel two, a close-up of Goemon’s face as he says through gritted teeth “You are the one monopolizing both.” Panel three, Lupin exclaims “What?!” while the speech bubble falls over both panels two and three. A close-up shot of Lupin’s bruised face to mirror Goemon’s from the previous panel, he has his mouth agape as Goemon insults him.

Panel four, is a front on shot of Lupin's face now completely red as we see Goemon's fist coming in from the bottom right of the panel.

Comic page done in warm yellows, browns and purples with black line art. Panel one is a waist up shot of Millie as she pushes her hair behind her ear and says “I feel bad because I miss my parents, but my holidays were so much less stressful last year when I couldn’t see them.” Panel two, same shot but Millie is looking down and to the right sadly and says “But like, my mom was surprisingly supportive when I broke up with Stacey.” Panel three, a long wide panel showing everyone at the table making booing noises and faces upon hearing Stacey’s name, while Millie smiles a bit. Panel three, back to Millie from the waist up, she says “Yeah. She let me vent to her and even came to hang out with me a few times. She helped me figure out that what Stacey was doing was abusive.” Panel four, a close up shot of Millie looking down and to the left and saying “But it’s still not always easy to be around her.” Panel five, closer shot of Millie just showing the bottom of her face, her mouth, and her hands delicately holding her café cup, she’s saying “And my dad.”

Comic page done in warm yellows, browns and purples with black line art. Panel one is a large panel with no borders and is done in greys and a little splash of light blue. We see Millie from behind in this flashback and the back of an armchair in the background, Millie’s father is sitting in the armchair watching a glowing tv screen. Narration reads “His big support was ‘don’t tell my sisters or they’ll make fun of you', when I said I was dating a woman. Like, that was aa good as it gets with him. Panel two, back in the present and the warm colour palette. Millie is smiling sweetly at Gabe who puts an arm on her back and says “That’s so hard.” Panel three, medium shot of Gabe as he holds his cafe cup and thinks about his own story. He says “My dad came out when I was ten so I had like this built in exposure to the community.”

Page 3 of our Dads comic, inspired by interviews with real folks with all names and some story details altered of course. It’s a bit of a heavy little comic, but the compassion between a group of queer friends is important. You can grab the anthology this is from here

Comic page done in warm yellows, browns and purples with black line art. Panel one is a large panel that bleeds into the left of the page, it’s coloured in a rainbow gradient with a young Gabe seen from behind as he looks up at a waterfall of various queer folks including his father and his father’s husband, the narration reads “Seeing that in him, his recognition of who he was and who he wanted to love, helped me get to that space of recognition too.” Panel two is a small thin panel of a close up of Gabe smiling and saying “Not that everyone is lucky enough to be gay and then have a gay dad.” As he waves his hand. Panel three is a large panel showing all four friends at the table, the mood has gone down again as Gabe continues saying “But we’re going to Herman’s parent’s for the long weekend and he’s really frustrated with his dad. He talks about how he dealt with all this discrimination for being Jewish and then turns around and starts being really racist and homophobic.”
