Panels 1-3 will be the same, with only the character’s facial expression changing, so we’ll need to make sure the expressions are detailed. Quinn is nodding and serious, but not sad. Quinn: “Mhmm, My Dad was the same way - he just couldn’t process me dating a woman. Panel 2: Medium shot, front view. Panels 1-3 are lined up on the diagonal downwards to the right of the page. Speech bubble 3 is sitting half in panel 2 and half in the gutter between panels 2 and 3. Quinn is resting their head in their hand, looking down sadly. These are not easy memories for them. Quinn: “He blamed Danielle for me being gay.” Quinn: “He didn’t talk to her, he didn’t want to see her.” Panel 3: Medium shot, front view. Quinn is looking off to the side, downcast. Note that you may need to adjust the position for speech bubble 4. Quinn: “He kind of blamed her for me coming out to him.” Panel 4: Wide shot, ¾ view. The same as the other flashback panels. There are no borders, and the scene is in grayscale, except for the blanket over Quinn’s father, which is a hospital mint green. The overtext in speech bubble 6 should match whatever was used for page 4 panel 1’s text, unless something else works better. Quinn’s Dad is laying in a hospital/long term care bed. There should be some obvious signs that he is old and ill, but I’ll leave the details up to you. Quinn is holding his hand between theirs. Both of them are crying as they connect, but there should be some feelings of hope there as well. They are finally properly connecting. Quinn: “This is the first year I’ve gone home since he died.” Quinn (Overtext): “But towards the end, before he died, he had this epiphany. He opened up and realized that Danielle was someone’s daughter. He apologized and was sad that he never got to know her. He even wanted to apologize to Danielle’s mother!
